State suspends doctor suspected of rape

Angie Leventis; The News Tribune

The state health department Thursday suspended the license of a King County physician accused of raping a 21-year-old patient while she was being examined in his office.

Charles Momah was removed from practice because of "turpitude, sexual contact and interference with an investigation, including threats against a patient," according to a Washington State Department of Health report. Momah, who practiced at the Northwest Center for Obstetrics, Gynecology and Infertility in Burien and Federal Way, has 20 days to respond to the charges and request a hearing.

The report charged Momah with "misrepresenting facts on a recredentialing application for a healthcare provider network," and "incompetence, negligence or malpractice for providing care that resulted in harm or a risk of harm to patients."
